Does Naruto die in Boruto, or will his death be caused by [SPOILER]’s death?

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations sees Naruto’s son and the new ninja generation take the lead, but there have been plenty of occasions when the Seventh Hokage has stepped in to safeguard his family and the village. After multiple failures to beat Jigen, and then a reborn Isshiki Otsutsuki, things looked very grim for Naruto. In the concluding fight, his greatest loss was Kurama, who sacrificed himself to provide Naruto with the power to finally put a stop to Isshiki’s menace. This left viewers pondering if Naruto’s own demise was imminent.

Despite the numerous setbacks Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden had, this was the first instance where the protagonist was rendered so powerless. All of his own chakras were nothing compared to Kurama’s, thus putting Naruto in a precarious situation. After all, he is renowned as the Seventh Hokage, the strongest ninja alive, and the one responsible for slaying Isshiki.

With Code inheriting Isshiki’s legacy and being seemingly more powerful than his late master, Naruto is now in a much more precarious situation. Despite not having Kurama, Naruto remains a highly sought-after target for Kara, given the immense effort it took to defeat Isshiki. With no way of reproducing such a feat, many fans fear that the Hokage’s life could be in danger.

Despite the fact that Jinchurikis typically perish when the Tailed Beast they contain is extracted, Naruto managed to avoid this fate in Naruto: Shippuden. This was possible due to the unique nature of Baryon Mode, which enabled Kurama to sacrifice itself without taking Naruto’s life along with it, consequently saving him in the process.

Will Naruto Finally Die in Boruto?

Will Naruto Finally Die in Boruto

At the start of Boruto, we witness an intense battle between an older Boruto and Kawaki, which appears to have caused destruction in the Hidden Leaf village. Kawaki says to Boruto, “I’ll send you to the same place I sent the Seventh Hokage,” suggesting that Naruto is not dead in this future, just elsewhere.

Despite the potential for Kawaki’s words to be interpreted as a desire to send Naruto to the afterlife, there is too much evidence that suggests otherwise. It is evident that Kawaki holds a great deal of respect and love for Naruto, whom he considers to be the father he never had. Kawaki has consistently shown a strong desire to protect Naruto, even to the point of putting himself in danger, making it difficult to believe he would ever willingly harm or kill him.

Naruto is still a powerful shinobi, regardless of not having Kurama. His vast chakra stores, combined with chakra from the other Tailed Beasts and his Six Paths Sage Mode, make him a formidable force. Although his strength is not as overwhelming as before, it will still be enough to protect the Hidden Leaf Village from powerful, Otsutsuki-level threats.

Overall, it is evident that Naruto is likely to remain alive for an extended period of time. He still has a great deal of power as a shinobi, and with Kawaki vowing to safeguard him, the likelihood of death is minimal. The only significant danger posed to Naruto is Code, but both Kawaki and Boruto have improved their abilities, thus reducing Naruto’s risk.

Kurama’s demise had a profound effect on fans, almost as much as it did on Naruto. Thus, viewers were understandably concerned when Kurama suggested that the Baryon Mode would lead to the death of either Naruto or them both. Thankfully, Kurama was being sly and instead gave up his life so Naruto could continue to exist, which looks like it will remain the same for the foreseeable future.
