The celebrated protagonist experienced a challenging win, facing off with some renowned figures of the medium. Coming close in second place was Kenpachi Zaraki from Bleach’s Gotei 13 11th Division and following him in third was the well-known swordsman Roronoa Zoro of One Piece.

Other popular names in the tournament included characters from Naruto (Madara and Itachi Uchiha), Dragon Ball Z (Vegeta), and Jujutsu Kaisen (Satoru Gojo). Guts were able to accomplish victory in each of his battles against Jiren from Dragon Ball, Yami from Black Clover, and Levi from Attack on Titan, before eventually defeating Zorro and moving on to the finals. The public reaction to the decision was overwhelmingly positive, with very few people contesting it.

Guts made his first appearance in Kentaro Miura’s 1989 debut of Berserk, released by Hakusensha’s Monthly Animal House. Spanning several decades, the series was comprised of 41 volumes until the author’s passing in 2021.

The wandering mercenary is best known for his vengeful nature and ruthless combat style, as well as for his distinct look, which includes black Berserker armor, a cannon in his grasp, and a missing right eye. His most iconic attribute is The Dragon Slayer, a colossal sword that is taller than Guts himself and often described as a “heap of raw iron” in the series.

The narrative of Berserk revolves around Guts, a solitary warrior who is hired by the enigmatic Griffith to become part of The Band of the Hawk. As time progresses, he discovers a realm filled with sorcery, faithlessness, politics, affection, and horror beyond imagination.

In 1997, the story was adapted into a 25-episode anime series, followed by a trilogy of movies in 2012 that were recently re-released. In 2016, an ongoing series of the story was released, but it was met with disapproval from fans. After the passing of its creator, Kentaro Miura, people assumed the manga would remain unfinished. Fortunately, Kouji Mori, a colleague and longtime friend of Miura, has been taking the lead in continuing the series.
