Rengoku vs Gyutaro and Daki in Demon Slayer – Who Would Emerge Victorious?

If Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku and Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui were to switch roles and fight against Upper Moon Six Gyutaro and Daki, it is unclear who would emerge victorious.

In the “Entertainment District” arc of Demon Slayer, Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira, faced a tough battle against the demon siblings Gyutaro and Daki, pushing him to his limits. The animation quality for Tengen’s fight scenes was on par with movie-level standards and showcased the same stunning swordsmanship as seen in Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, where Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku was the star.

Despite his passing, Rengoku’s legacy continues to resonate with both Demon Slayer characters and fans alike. The Flame Hashira was admired for his benevolence, strength, and willingness to put others before himself. Consequently, many individuals long for his return. Suppose Rengoku had miraculously survived his battle against Akaza and took over as the leading Hashira in the Entertainment District instead of Tengen. In that case, how would he have fared against Gyutaro and Daki in combat compared to Tengen?

Rengoku’s legacy continues to be felt by both the Demon Slayer cast and the fanbase even after his death. His admirable qualities of kindness, strength, and selflessness made him a beloved character, and many still yearn for more of him. The possibility of him surviving his encounter with Akaza and taking Tengen’s place as the main Hashira in the Entertainment District raises questions about how he would fare in a fight against Gyutaro and Daki, and how his performance would compare to Tengen’s.

Rengoku’s innate abilities and his heritage as a descendant of skilled Flame Breathing practitioners rendered him proficient not only in the Flame Breathing methods but also a physical powerhouse capable of matching the mightiest of demons. Despite the blindingly swift pace of their intense confrontation, Akaza continually praised Rengoku’s quick reflexes, leaving Tanjiro struggling to keep up with their movements.

Despite being skilled in combat with his dual Nichirin blades and explosives, Tengen’s sense of inadequacy in comparison to Rengoku highlights the Flame Hashira’s remarkable abilities. Rengoku’s remarkable performance against Upper Moon Three Akaza, without any assistance, was far more impressive than Tengen’s narrow victory against Upper Moon Six, even with help from Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke. With his exceptional swiftness and varied breathing techniques, Rengoku would likely have a better chance of defending himself against Gyutaro’s and Daki’s attacks compared to Tengen.

Why Gyutaro and Daki Would Ultimately Victor over Rengoku?

Why Gyutaro and Daki Would Ultimately Victor over Rengoku

Although Rengoku may have a slightly higher combat prowess than Tengen, Tengen’s physical strengths and distinct Musical Score Technique rendered him the most suitable Hashira to confront Gyutaro. His shinobi training enabled him to develop a strong resistance to poisons, which enabled him to remain in the battle despite being wounded by Gyutaro’s poisonous blades. Additionally, Tengen’s Musical Score Technique enabled him to accurately anticipate and counter Gyutaro’s attacks, allowing him to keep up the fight even after losing one of his arms.

If Rengoku didn’t have poison resistance, he would have to maintain a flawless defense, which would be extremely difficult as he would have to counter both Gyutaro’s incredible speed and Daki’s numerous Obi. On the other hand, Tengen had an extra blade and explosives at his disposal to reinforce his defense. Rengoku, on the contrary, only had his sword as a weapon, leaving him with very little margin for mistakes.

If Rengoku had the same assistance as Tengen from a relentless Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, there could be a possibility that he could defeat Gyutaro and Daki using his excellent swordsmanship and breathing mastery. Nonetheless, Tengen was better suited to combat Gyutaro’s poison blades. Even if Rengoku managed to secure a victory, he would probably sacrifice his life in the process, making for a gruesome scene that fans of Demon Slayer would not want to see again.
