The enthusiasts of the anime show Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba can possibly rejoice as there are speculations that the development of Season 4 has been initiated.

It seems that a new installment of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is possibly in development. Despite the lack of an official confirmation for Demon Slayer Season 4, a reputable anime news source on Twitter suggests that work on another season of the acclaimed show has commenced. The third season of Demon Slayer, which adapts the “Swordsmith Village” arc from Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga, debuted in April this year.

Undeniably, the news of Demon Slayer Season 4 in the works has generated enthusiasm among fans. Nevertheless, a few of them are now discussing whether it would be preferable to adapt the final story arcs into a collection of movies instead. Their reasoning is that the film format would aid in the comprehension of plot points and details, avoiding the need to revisit episodes.

The Plot of Demon Slayer

The Plot of Demon Slayer

Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump featured Gotouge’s dark fantasy tale from February 2016 until May 2020, resulting in a collection of 23 volumes. The plot revolves around Tanjiro Kamado, a gentle soul whose life is forever altered by the slaughter of his parents at the hands of demons, and the transformation of his sister into one of them. This narrative has strongly connected with readers, earning Demon Slayer a spot among the top-selling manga of all time, alongside Attack on Titan by Hajime Isayama and Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto. With 150 million copies in circulation worldwide, the story’s impact is undeniable.

The story of Demon Slayer could have been vastly different. An editor named Tatsuhiko Katayama, who worked on the series, revealed that the original plan was for Tanjiro to be a heartless, merciless murderer. The plot was also intended to be more savage and brutal. However, fearing that this approach would not be well-received by most manga readers, Katayama advised the mangaka to modify Tanjiro’s character to make him more relatable to a wider audience.

The renowned studio, Ufotable, responsible for the upcoming adaptation of Genshin Impact, premiered the Demon Slayer anime in April 2019. It turned out to be a huge success as it won several categories at the 9th Newtype Anime Awards, such as Best Work, Best Director, Best Character Design, and Best Theme Song. Additionally, it was crowned Anime of the Year at the 4th Crunchyroll Anime Awards. Similarly, Season 2 of the anime, which portrays the story of the Entertainment District Arc, also did exceptionally well at this year’s Crunchyroll Anime Awards, receiving accolades for Best Animation, Best Action, and Best Fantasy categories. Despite the loss of Anime of the Year to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the season 2 performance was noteworthy.
