The conclusion of My Hero Academia Season 6 saw the antagonists come out victorious. By keeping the next plot line for Season 7, the show could have addressed this issue, but it was likely a better decision to wait until the next season.
The sixth season of My Hero Academia concluded on an optimistic note, with Deku having the necessary respite and preparation to confront Tomura Shigaraki and All For One with the support of his peers and fellow Heroes. While this was a positive outcome, it’s disheartening to consider that the series ended with the villains in a victorious position on the battlefield.
The Star and Stripe Arc in the series may have been an opportunity to show the Heroes coming out on top in Season 7. This would have been a satisfying conclusion to the season, where Shigaraki is outmatched by the No. 1 Hero in America, Star and Stripe. Although the battle does not end with a complete victory for Star and Stripe, it does end with Shigaraki being defeated. Whether this would have been the most effective way to end the sixth season depends on the desired reaction from fans and viewers, as it is all about creating a feeling of satisfaction.
Where Is the Ideal Location to Display the Star-Spangled Banner?
On the other hand, had Season 6 chosen to end in a manner similar to Season 4, it could have created an uplifting conclusion, showcasing the Heroes as triumphant and making it feel as if the villains could be defeated. This would have been more satisfying compared to ending the season on a low note with the Heroes coming out on the losing end.
On the other hand, it might not have been feasible to include this arc due to the limited time of the 25 episodes of Season 6. It could have been difficult to squeeze this arc into the season without it having an effect on the pace, especially since there was no recap or filler episode as in prior seasons. Even if the season was condensed or an extra episode was added, this arc would still need at least two or three episodes to be properly explored, and compacting it into the season could have suffered the same pacing issues as Season 5.
Finishing Season 6 in victory for the antagonists was also essential. Its 25 episodes have been marked by disappointment, so a successful conclusion for the villains establishes the challenge of overcoming them. The show’s shrewd combination of hope and pessimism sets the stage for the forthcoming Season 7.
The conclusion of Season 6 on the Star and Stripe Arc may have been advantageous to the general ambiance, but it wasn’t required. The season finished on a reasonably positive note, so the upcoming arc would benefit from being presented in its entirety at the beginning of Season 7.
