Zenitsu Meets His Match: The Epic Collision of Demon Slayer’s Voice Actors

After an arduous period of four years, the characters Zenitsu and Zenitsu from Demon Slayer finally cross paths in a delightful social gathering featuring Japanese and English voice actors.

Seek shelter: Over in Japan, thunder is booming and lightning bolts are bursting as a result of the momentous encounter between the two voice actors who portray Zenitsu in the popular anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Hiro Shimono, who provides the Japanese voice for Zenitsu Agatsuma, shared a collection of pictures showcasing his meetup with Aleks Le, the English voice actor. During the meetup, the two voice actors displayed their charming friendship by posing as Zenitsu in his Thunder Breathing form and wearing matching T-shirts that Shimono gave to Le. The T-shirts have a design of a puppy getting blasted out into space. Shimono expressed his excitement on meeting Le, whom he playfully mentioned is 20 years younger than him, and called it a “dream come true.”

The English VA for Zenitsu Discussed the Meeting

Le has shared a video response to Shimono’s Tweet, expressing his gratitude towards the voice actor for gifting him his favorite shirt that he adorably calls “kawaii.” Le also thanked Shimono for his kindness and referred to him as his hero, pledging to remain his biggest fan. The meeting between the two voice actors was unexpected and Le was overjoyed when Shimono appeared. Despite having worked on the same series for four years, this was the first time they had met. Fans were enamored with their wholesome get-together, and one fan even expressed their admiration for when English voice actors meet their Japanese counterparts.

Shimono began his career in voice acting by lending his voice to Ayato Kamina in RahXephon back in 2002. He has since gained a reputation for his recognizable voice, which can be heard in the roles of Connie Springer in Attack on Titan, Dabi in My Hero Academia, and Rindou Haitani in Tokyo Revengers, among others. Similarly, he has also voiced characters such as Shin in 86, Thorfinn in Vinland Saga, and Caiman in Dorehedoro. Furthermore, he had the opportunity to work on the same project as Shimono in Tokyo Revengers, where he voiced the character of Mikey Sano.

Since its release in April 2019, Demon Slayer, created by ufotable, has become one of the most popular anime franchises. The voice cast includes Natsuki Hanae (known for his role as Kaneki in Tokyo Ghoul) and Zach Aguilar (who played David Martinez in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners) as Tanjiro, Akari Kitō (who voiced Nene Yashiro in Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun) and Abby Trott (known for her portrayal of Yoh Asakura in the 2021 remake of Shaman King) as Tanjiro’s sister Nezuko, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Bryce Papenbrook as Inosuke. It is worth noting that Matsuoka and Papenbrook previously voiced Kirito in Sword Art Online.

Although Shimono and Le’s voices may not be prominent in the current season’s sub and dub, fans can still hear them in the first two seasons of Demon Slayer available on Crunchyroll. The “Swordsmith Village” arc is currently streaming on both Crunchyroll and Netflix.
